Storybird- "Storybirds are short, art-inspired stories you make to share, read, and print. Teachers love them because they inspire their most reluctant writers and readers and reward their most adventurous. Kids adore them because they feel empowered by the tools and supported by the social feedback." Clay Yourself Avatar- a fun site that allows you to create an avatar. You instruct students to skip the nameing of the avatar as it will ask for an email address. Simply go tot he next step and download the avatar or take a screen shot and save it.
Dotty-Dots- a fun application that allows you to create some fun text. Does not work in Internet Explorer! Creates nice text for Notebook lessons.
Google Art Project- A unique collaboration with some of the world’s most acclaimed art museums to enable people to discover
and view more than a thousand artworks online in extraordinary detail. Basically its Google Street view inside various art museums.
Zimmer Twins- A site devoted to kids and creative storytelling- it invites children to create and share their own animated stories.
You will need to create an account to save your stories.
Abraham Lincoln's Crossroads- This activity takes you on Abraham Lincoln’s political journey in a very unique, informative and educational format- complete with audio so make sure your speakers are turned up. It chronicles Lincoln’s political decisions during his Presidency. This activity also displays well using the SMARTBoard.
Modern Marvels- a website sponsored by the History Channel and offers short videos on several interesting inventions,
topics of modern history. It is based on the television series. Click on the Video link (left side) to few the categories.
